- Lake Washington Floating Bridge opens across Mercer Island.
- James, Madison, and Yesler cable car lines abandoned; last to operate is Yesler on August 10. This leaves San Francisco as only city in U.S. with cable cars.

- Last Seattle streetcar completes its final run to Fremont on April 13.

1944
- Seattle Transit ridership peaks at 130 million passengers.
1946
- Lake Shore Lines acquires the Black Diamond Stage Company, which gives them routes from the Green River Gorge to Seattle in addition to current routes serving Bothell and Renton.
1947
- Antitrust regulators force Puget Power to sell off remaining bus companies.
