King County Metro Transit has an anti-litter program at bus stops without shelters.

The program partners with volunteers who "Adopt-A-Stop" at their homes or businesses and pick up litter around the bus stop to keep the area and neighborhood clean.

In exchange for this volunteer effort, Metro Transit will provide:

  • 20 bus tickets per month


  • One litter container — to be attached to the bus stop pole by Metro


  • Free litter bags


  • If desired, an Adopt-A-Stop sticker (affixed to the container) recognizing the volunteer or business who picks up litter at the stop.

To Apply to the Adopt-A-Stop Program, begin your registration and read through the agreement with Metro Transit. You can submit the form electronically or print-out the form and send or fax it to the Adopt-A-Stop Coordinator at the following address:
