Agreement

King County Metro Transit ("Metro Transit") and Volunteer agree to the following terms and conditions related to siting, installing, maintaining and emptying a litter receptacle at the location (the "Site") indicated on the Application.

In consideration of Metro Transit installing a litter receptacle and providing plastic liners at the Site, Volunteer agrees as follows:

  • To install the plastic liners in the receptacle and remove the litter; dispose of the litter as part of Volunteer's business or home garbage and at Volunteer's expense; and remove litter before the receptacle or surrounding area becomes unsightly.
  • To promptly remove all graffiti and rinse/wash the receptacle to maintain a tidy appearance.
  • To immediately notify Metro Transit if the receptacle is damaged beyond what can be remedied by cleaning. Depending on availability, if the receptacle is stolen or substantially damaged, Metro Transit will replace the receptacle up to twice during a 12-month period.

As additional consideration for the efforts of the Volunteer and upon request of the Volunteer, Metro Transit will:

  1. Place on the receptacle an Adopt-A-Stop sticker recognizing the Volunteer; and
  2. Provide ten roundtrip tickets per month for Volunteer to use to ride Metro Transit.

Volunteer understands and acknowledges the litter may contain materials that are or are suspected to be hazardous, dangerous, heavy or unyielding. Accordingly, Volunteer shall exercise her or his judgment about handling the litter, make every effort not to touch or pick up syringes, hypodermic needles, or exceptionally large, heavy or unyielding objects, and assume all risks of handling the litter. Volunteer shall contact the proper agency for disposal instructions for litter that may be hazardous, dangerous, heavy or unyielding.

Volunteer agrees this Agreement shall be effective from the date signed by Metro Transit and continue until terminated by either party.

Volunteer and Metro Transit agree this Agreement may be terminated at the written request of the Volunteer or upon the determination by Metro Transit that termination is in best interest of King County.

Volunteer agrees Metro Transit may temporarily suspend this Agreement because of construction at or near the Site or if the bus stop is temporarily closed. Metro Transit will lift the suspension after completion of construction or temporary closure.

Volunteer agrees that if this Agreement is terminated for any reason related to failure or neglect of the Volunteer to properly maintain the receptacle, Volunteer will not be allowed to participate in the Adopt-A-Stop Program for at least six months from the date of termination.

Volunteer shall contact the Metro Transit Adopt-A-Stop coordinator at 206-263-6503 to request repair or replacement of the receptacle. In addition, if there are questions or comments about the Site or the Adopt-A-Stop Program, Volunteer may contact the coordinator.
