Sing me a sound that doesn't grate or blast,
just one
dear relic from my hearing past unstrung.
I'll keep it on the mantel of my mind,
sweet tailing shattered music left behind,
artifact of civilized chords gone wrong,
I'll frame it in white silence,
one sound, my sacred song.
I am 62, a homemaker, a grandmother, organic gardener, hiker. My hearing loss progressed from mild in my 30's to deafness in my late 50's. Emily C. Mandelbaum
