In Her Garden

After a good rain, goldfinch string
their music through the serviceberry trees.
My wife thinks she's St. Francis.
She charms the cedar wax wing
which lights close enough to touch.
She tells me Francis' theory of containers,
Take from the full, fill the empty.
All nests shape cupped hands waiting.

Kevin Miller lives in Gig Harbor, Washington. His first book, Light That Whispers Morning, was published by Blue Begonia Press.
