SUNDAY

Gentle hands of rain unravel flesh into another day. On the corner of First and Pike, a tattered woman asks you if today is Sunday. Her words flap away like pigeons navigating your surprise. You remain stranded in the middle of the week, alone with her face of hope and wonder. She is all the dreams you wake from shivering, all the places you meant to hide and never be found. And in a moment you will join her in the country behind her eyes where today, tomorrow, it is always Sunday.

A rare native of Seattle, Cate Wilcox is presently a legal secretary while savoring the adventure of completing her first novel.
