the manikins stay dry behind their windows,
no takers for the sidewalk tables. the leaves
have yet to return so trees are no use. a man
in green gloves holds out a yellow hat, silent,
hoping for change, catches only rain. the sun
never said it was coming but people stand on
street corners and wait.
