Short sleeves and bright colors
Now outshine the dwindling daylight hours
Time to retire the summer
To the closet’s remote corners
I inspect my uniform for the next season
Black and practical
Enclosing myself in its wool armor
I plunge my fists in the satiny pockets
They’re not empty
Half a cinema ticket
And a shiny buckeye
I’ve opened a time capsule from last year
Reminding me how warm winter can be
