We struggle against gravity,
mostly graying, mostly overweight.
We hop backwards as instructed,
in sudden kinship with crustaceans,
hot crawdad mamas jetting out of danger,
ghost shrimp scooting back to shelter -
we are the known ridiculous,
time lost and less remaining.
