2005 Poetry on Buses Competition

		Welcome to Poetry on Buses 2005, a collection of poems inspired by the theme Self Portrait. A self-portrait can illustrate how we see ourselves-our past, present and what we hope to become.

This theme enticed more than 1800 residents of King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish Counties who submitted poems for consideration. The jury selected 60 poems by adults and young people. Each of the selected poems are included in a book and on bus placards distributed throughout the King County Metro bus fleet.

Poetry on Buses brings the voices of local poets to the bus riders of King County, making art a part of everyday life. Ride the bus, and see where the poems take you…
