Metro Bus Identifier Cards
Metro pioneered the use of Bus Identifier Cards in the mid-1980's, thanks to input from a Metro advisory committee of visually impaired and deaf-blind transit users. Persons who have difficulty seeing the route number and destination signs on the front of the bus can use these cards to let the driver know which route they are waiting for. The cards are most useful at bus stops used by more than one route. Drivers have been trained in assisting persons using Bus Identifier Cards.
There are two colors of Bus Identifier Cards:
- white for persons with visual disabilities; and
- yellow cards for persons with both vision and hearing disabilities.
Bus Identifier Cards are available at no charge from Metro's Customer Service Office. If you ride a route that uses the same number twice (i.e. Route 22), please ask for extra numbers.
