The ADA requires that drivers announce stops at
  • Transfer points
  • Major intersections
  • Major destinations
  • Frequent-enough intervals that blind persons or persons with partial vision can orient themselves
  • Stops requested by riders with disabilities.

In addition, Metro Transit requires its drivers to call out

  • The Ride Free Zone, including the last stop in the zone
  • The stop at which express and limited service begins and ends.
People in bus shelter saying "Getting off at the wrong stop can be dangerous and confusing" and "I don't know this neighborhood. I need to have the stops announced."
