What Metro does
  • Drivers want to do everything they can to help riders reach their destinations safely and efficiently. Calling out stops results in better service for all Metro Transit riders, and Metro Transit is making sure drivers understand the importance of calling out stops.
  • Training for drivers will be ongoing. We will be monitoring the program to ensure the best customer service.
  • Metro worked with focus groups of blind, partially sighted and disabled riders to formulate the driver training program for calling out stops.
  • Metro requires drivers to use a microphone for any coach equipped with one. If it is not, or if the microphone is broken, then drivers must speak loudly enough to be heard in the priority seating area.
People in bus shelter saying "Riders have different reasons for wanting to hear stops announced" and "I don't ride the bus often. When you call out stops I can relax and enjoy the ride."
