Description

There are several ways to use bicycles to connect with public transportation. Metro has bicycle lockers available for rent at 16 different park-and-ride lots and transit centers in King County. Bicycles can be loaded onto the bike rack on the front of all Metro buses and on Metro VanPools (when a rack is requested for the van).

For new cyclists, the Bike Buddy program matches new cyclists with experienced commuters from specific neighborhoods. Bike Buddy mentors help new bicyclists by mapping out a commute route, providing tips, and even riding with the new cyclist the first time.

Bikestation Seattle at 311 Third Avenue S. (near King Street Station) is a focal point for cycling in downtown. This facility offers secure indoor bicycle parking 24/7 (free during operating hours), bicycle repair, retail sales of commuter accessories, car sharing, rental of electric bicycles and electric scooters, as well as regular bicycles, and alternative transportation mode information.

Bicycles may not be loaded or unloaded within the ride free area (RFA), between the hours of 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM. The exceptions are the first and last boundary stops (i.e., inbound: first bus stop inside the RFA; outbound: last bus stop inside the RFA). See more information about the RFA and a boundary map.
