Working Wheels

Qualify

  • Obtain an application and complete the application process. Includes a $5 cost to obtain your driving record from the Department of Licensing, and a $5 cost for the application fee.
  • Qualify for a loan
  • Purchase and maintain auto insurance throughout the loan period.
  • Working at a job where the employee has work-related transportation problems, including:
    • No public transportation is available, or
    • A difficult or long commute on public transportation to get to work, child care, and other family needs, or
    • Limits job advancement, or
    • Being unable to afford to repair a car that is unsafe or that does not run.

Description

Working Wheels is a non-profit employment-support program that sells affordable used cars to low-income workers and job seekers. Working Wheels serves economically disadvantaged residents of King County who need a car to get to work. Many clients are current or former welfare recipients who are trying to stay employed and improve their lives.

Eligible clients purchase a vehicle for an average of $1500 through a 3-year loan.
