Customer Kudos to Metro Personnel

During the WTO event there were many disruptive and stressful experiences for all of us. Here are some of the appreciative comments our customers shared during this difficult time.

November 23

Thank you very much for your reply. It is nice to know we are being assisted in this way. I really appreciate everyone at Metro and applaud your efforts and hard work.

November 30

THANK YOU for your excellent and prompt information!!!

Just read the latest transit alert - things have totally gone to hell - Metro, an incredibly (I think) organized entity reports:

"At some parts of the northern Downtown Seattle perimeter, some buses may not be able to get all the way into town. If that is the case, they will drop off passengers where they can SAFELY do so, then turn around to go back on their OUTbound routing.

Metro staff has no way of knowing which trips on which routes will turn back.

ALL Metro service in the Downtown core area is currently completely off schedule. Metro staff cannot tell you when your bus will arrive."

The last two sentences are a testimony to the power great groups of people have when they upset and disrupt plans or routings put in place by government entities.

In a lot of ways, it makes me appreciate that we live in an environment that is controlled by a stable government!

Thank you for keeping us informed.

Thank you for the great service and thank the bus drivers who are trying to do their job!! We really appreciate the concern.

Thanks for the updates - they really help! Good luck to us all!

I just wanted to thank Metro for the outstanding job they have been doing throughout this "difficult week". Obviously the routes are disrupted a lot, and a bus for my route (214)was quite late in showing up. There was still a lot of tension in the air with reports of a curfew being impose, which made everyone want to go home ASAP. There was a very friendly person (young man with short dark hair) with a radio and an orange vest (identified as "Metro Supervisor/information" or something like that) who was very helpful in checking on the status of a bus for our route. One had not come by in almost an hour. He got on the radio, and arranged for a bus to take us on our way. The bus driver as well was very funny & pleasant in a situation that must surely be fraying the nerves of you all.

Even the person I spoke to earlier at the rider information hotline was very pleasant. Your attempts to help those people who's routes were disrupted by having Metro staff out on the streets to get questions answered is to be commended. Way to go Metro! Hang in there!

The usual bus driver on this route (312) does a great job anyway, but with the WTO backup Tuesday morning, he got us to downtown in really good time. The bus tunnel was closed and I had a very long walk up to Capital Hill from 5TH and Cherry, but is was not a scary trip with him at the wheel. Thanks!

Thanks, to everyone at Metro Transit for the outstanding job providing service on Tuesday, 11/30/99 during the difficult times in downtown Seattle. I was faced with getting from the University of Washington to Burien in the evening. The rider alert on your web site was updated and as clear and complete as could be expected. The same was true of the automated telephone message. The alternate plans for routing around the downtown area were well conceived and, at least from my perspective, sure worked well.

The drivers deserve a special thank you. All of the drivers with whom I rode were calm, polite and did their best to provide any information that they had. They also were more than willing to drop off passengers at unsigned, unscheduled stops as long as the stops were within the safety guidelines.

I just wanted to let someone know that we had the most wonderful bus driver yesterday. (Rt. 56) She made an error and went downtown after service had been cancelled. She made every attempt to pick up the passengers and get them away from the city. She followed several different routes to make sure everybody got where they needed to be, and also advised us that no other buses were coming so we wouldn't stand around in the protests and wait. There are not a lot of people who would go out of there way to help a few strangers, but she did. I wanted to thank her.

Because I was watching from about 30 stories up I had some difficulty confirming the route#, but it was very easy to see the bus number 2402.

{After at least an hour of patiently waiting for direction by the authorities,} I would like to commend the bus driver. He/She did a wonderful job of re-directing traffic backward around the bus, enabling them to re-enter I-5. He/She also alerted the other drivers (over 50 yards ahead of him/her), of the outlet, giving them passage. Even before attempting his/her tremendous feat of maneuvering an accordian-style, double-load bus, out of the narrow off-ramp back onto I-5 safely.

He/She deserves a Good Samaritan Award, and a Terrific driving bonus!

I want to thank Metro Transit staff, and especially all the many Metro drivers I met trying to get around yesterday. It was, as one driver put it, a day when "Metro is not just a transportation agency. Metro is a trip!" Thanks for the good humor, the unusual care to give us information and advice, and especially FOR BEING THERE.

Metro handled itself admirably during yesterday's incidences downtown. It was a difficult time for all of us that commute to and work downtown.

I have great respect for the fact that Metro balances the needs of the commuter with the need to protect drivers from dangerous situations.

Last, but definitely not least, thank you very much for keeping the web site and rider alert messages accurate up to the minute! Metro was by far my best and most accurate source of travel condition information yesterday. Keep up the excellent work and a hearty thanks to those people working on keeping us all so well informed.

December 1

Thanks for the url to the alerts. It looks like I can check this url during the day for any transit updates.

You guys are doing a great job! Thanks for all of your information, making life a whole lot easier this week.

The Transit Alert! has been anything but confusing. It has been very helpful to me and my colleague who work down at 4th and Union.

Thanks for this most challenging task during this difficult time.

I love these notices, I really do. They're incredibly helpful to me, especially when used with my pager.

Just a note to let you guys know that you generally did a great job yesterday. Drivers were amazed that customers actually showed up on the edges of downtown to catch their buses!

I realize how much of a task these Transit Alerts can be for you folks and I want to thank you for these updates. They are informative and I am routing them to my staff.

Keep up the great work!

You guys are doing a fantastic job with these updates; thanks!

First, let me say "Thanks!" for being the most informative E-mail system in town. I get more value out of the Transit Alert system than the WTO Traffic one by far.

Thanks for the email updates. It's been a valuable service.

Just wanted to say that this service is FABULOUS and that I'm deeply impressed by the gracious way that Metro has handled all this chaos. Yay for you!

Caught bus at 1st & Denny, the driver on this bus (female name unknown) was extremely helpful and did a wonderful job in a difficult time for those of us who ride metro daily and were so inconvenienced by wto. i just wish to commend her (she had a Flower Lei displayed, due to the sheer number of passengers and the situation I did not get her name but I am sure you have heard from others about her superb job!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Metro for the great performance and care of the driver on this route last night and applaud his willingness to serve Metro customers. I only wish I had asked his name so that he could have been properly recognized.

In the midst of all the chaos and confusion due to WTO protests, street closures and more, this driver went out of his way to take myself and about 6 or 7 other passengers safely to our destination. He went above and beyond his normal duties in listening to our requests and helping us to get as close to our destinations as possible.

Rather than hearing, "no, I can't take you, the streets are closed," this driver instead made a way for us passengers to get where we needed to be.

Again, I would like to applaud the efforts of our driver and thank him for his excellent service and willingness to help customers in need.

I would also like to say that every driver I have encountered this week has been patient, kind and extremely helpful through these very difficult situations. Metro, you can be proud of your drivers, they are representing you well!

I would like to commend the driver of this bus (Rt. 18) on this specific date. He is a great driver on an average day, but yesterday, as we all know, was not an average day in downtown Seattle.

I would like to commend his patience, kindness, his willingness and ability to keep his sense of humour as well as his driving and desire to get us all home. He seemed well aware that we all wanted out of the craziness that was taking place downtown. But along the way he was asked many questions by impatient people, he had to maneuver the bus through thick traffic and people and he had to sit for long periods of time in congestion. He was also yelled at by a man in a wheelchair who had very little patience with the process that it takes to lower the ramp, rearrange the seats on the bus and strap the wheelchair in. A few of us told this person in the wheelchair what the driver had already been through and thankfully this person changed their attitude.

All in all I want to say that I felt extremely lucky and extremely grateful to have been on this bus driver's bus. He deserves much appreciation and commendation and I truly hope he gets it.

Our Driver, Elliott (I think)(Rt. 311), should be commended for his quick thinking, concern for our safety, and perseverance for getting us out of the downtown area.

What happened -- a group of protesters (~400) was coming south on 3rd Avenue, blocking the street in both directions, while the cops were coming down 3rd Avenue going north. The bus was blocked inbetween the two factions. The cops shot at least five tear-gas cartridges into the group of protesters. Of course, they ran, but the bus couldn't move. Two cartridges fell abreast of the bus and one rolled under the bus. Needless to say, the whole bus got tear-gassed. Elliot moved the bus out of the way as soon as possible for several blocks. Elliott called an aid-car for our assistance, but everyone just wanted to get home. After Elliott was assured everyone was OK, we continued. (We were the last bus to get out of the downtown area before it was closed off.) We then went north on 3rd, east on Denny, south on 5th, north on 6th, east on Denny, then south on 9th, until we could get on I-5 north. (Not even the cops knew which streets were open after Elliott asked which way to go!) We were on the bus for at least 1 hour and 40 minutes (till I got off at 160th). Elliott did a superior job.

Very useful service. I think Metro is doing everything it can to keep transit service going in the city as well as keeping riders informed during the uncertainty of WTO. I appreciate your efforts.

I wanted to send feedback to those who have worked so hard to maintain bus service during the WTO and it's consequent protests. The time and energy spent to continue bus service, reroute, and update riders on route status has been wonderful. I appreciate all that has been done, and so do many others.

THANK YOU

December 2

As a citizen and a long time Metro rider, I want to commend Metro for its fine service and professionalism. You folks deserve a lot of credit during this very trying time.

Thank you so much for providing an excellent source of information throughout this confusing and trying time. Your efforts have certainly eased my commutes, and I am sure they have assisted a great many others as well. My compliments to your staff!

I just wanted to say what a magnificent job all of you are doing there at Metro. All of us here at the Lighthouse for the Blind have benefited from your timely and informative updates. Hats off to everyone over there. Many thanks.

I would like to applaud every driver that I have ridden with during the inconvenience due to the protests that have been taking place. Each and every driver has gone out of their way to make sure that all riders get out of the downtown area and have let riders know what busses connect to their route if it isn't a rider's normal route. Their calm and patience has been much appreciated.

Thank you, Metro staff, for updating us as timely as possible.

I am so grateful for this service that you have provided. Thank you very much for ALL of the extraordinary work you all are doing at Metro.

Last night, I called Metro transit, as I could not tell from your recorded WTO info message if the tunnels would be open today. I waited to speak with a live person. That person was so kind and informative, in the midst of what I am sure are very difficult times, with people calling in more and more with upsets, etc.

If there is any way that you can relay a thank you to the phone staff, would you please do this for me? Thank you from a very grateful Metro bus rider.

You guys are doing a GREAT job during this madness.

Thanks for supporting those of us who ride buses

Hope it'll all be over soon, then we can look forward to simple snow closures! (LOL)

No need to answer this - I know you're busy busy busy

I want to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all of metro workers and drivers.

Your drivers are keeping there cool and helping out a lot of stranded citizens who have been forced to start walking many miles home in the cold, rain and dark. The driver's I have personally met up with were absolutely first rate at helping all of us get to our destinations, answering a lot of foolish questions with humor, wit and guidance and keeping us warm and feeling safe.

Thank you to all of the metro workforce. Job well done !

Just want to send a note of thanks to all the Metro personnel who are making this information available to those of us who need to get to and from our jobs in downtown Seattle during this unusual time. A special thanks to all the drivers of the Metro buses as they are performing far above and beyond the call of duty with compassion and patience under difficult circumstances. (A daily rider on the Metro system)

You are doing a terrific job. Thank you very much for this valuable service.

I just want to let you know, I think you guys are great!

Just a note to say you (guys) have been awesome throughout this whole thing. This Email service is the greatest too. Keep up the good work!!

Amidst WTO confusion, our bus driver noticed that a whole lot of people were waiting for the 2 or the 13 and it wasn't going to come, so he asked if those routes would work for us -- I had been hoping for a 2 or a 13, but jumped on the three after walking several blocks and not seeing a single bus anywhere downtown -- and called in and got himself switched from a route 3 to a 13 to accommodate everyone. It was great. I didn't get his name, but I sure appreciate him thinking on his feet!

December 3

Thank you for the continuous updates and for doing the best you can under very difficult circumstances.

Our employees (many of whom ride the bus) also appreciate being kept informed.

I don't know if anybody will read this, but thank you so much for your alerts and efforts at keeping citizens informed about transit issues during this difficult time. Your efforts are much appreciated. Thanks!

Great job with the updates... I hope you're getting tons of compliments down there! (First Choice Health)

I normally catch the #2 Madrona from Queen Anne to my job at Virginia Mason hospital. On the morning of December 3 my bus was running late which was not unusual regarding the events of the last 3 days. When the bus did show up, there was a new driver, I assume she was a replacement driver since she appeared very nervous and apprehensive about driving the route. I unfortunately did not get the number of the bus, but it was the 6:10am #2 from Queen Anne to Downtown.

I just want to let her know, she did an excellent job of driving the bus, probably the best and safest driver I have had on the route. Give her a big thank you from me! And I want to thank all the drivers for doing such a great job during this nightmare week.

Just spoke with a client of mine who has been very impressed and please with the way the drivers he has encountered this week have handled the pressures and constantly changing conditions of the WTO. He said that he has had to get off buses and make his way to other pick up points and that the drivers have been helpful in their assistance and professional in their manner, even when my client knew they must be concerned over their own safety.

I have heard many of these same comments from others, both outside Metro and inside our own department. Please pass along our commendations to the hard working drivers that experienced so much trouble this week.

I also have been pleased with the Alerts-they have provided a great deal of up to the minute information.

Okay folks, after all the craziness of the last few days, I think we all needed a break from riots, tear gas and the like, and I got on the very quiet bus this morning (reading the paper about riots, tear gas and the like) and noticed someone gently whistling Christmas songs.

Quietly.

Serenely.

Peacefully.

It was the driver, who, through traffic that could be considered 'routine' (but is still a pain in the butt) skillfully navigated the articulated bus while in his own quiet way bringing peace to all on board.

It was a wonderful way to start a Friday. Please let him know it's appreciated.

Thanks

Just wanted to comment on how well Metro operated during this very stressful week. With all the changes in bus schedules you guys worked very hard and did a great job of moving the masses.

Many thank to all of you at Metro, who have done a great job keeping us downtown commuters going during a very disruptive week. The transit alerts have been really great - very helpful, and operators (drivers)have been quite polite and and informative, even though I know all of them and you are under a lot of stress this week. Again, thanks again for a great job keeping things running and keeping us going where we needed to be, even with a lot of disruptions and unplanned circumstances. My hat is off to you!

Thanks for the Transit Alert! postings during WTO. I found them to be very helpful during this stressful time. Would also like to commend the #16 bus driver who took the time to explain to his passengers where the next stop would be and how they might connect up with a route they are familiar with (his bus left Alaskan Way at around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 2). He even made us all laugh a few times!

This is a huge 'THANK YOU' directed to the TransitAlert Team as well as the drivers, supervisors, security personnel (and anybody else in the system), who have done a bang-up job in totally unreasonable conditions. There is plenty of armchair quarterbacking going on by those who couldn't do the jobs themselves if they were on fire (the city officials and police are getting the brunt of it!), and I just want to tell anybody who will listen that I think you all have handled this madness exceptionally well.

We live in the best spot on the planet. Thanks again!

Don't have his name but I certainly want to thank the driver on the above route (Rt. 33) for providing me, and some other pretty weary folk, almost to door service by doing the routes within Magnolia of the 33, 24 and 19. Due to the "situations" downtown Wednesday evening it took 3 hours to get home from the KeyTower. I don't think I could have walked another block so this driver should be commended for his inititive in providing the best of customer service in the worst of conditions.

I am writing to thank you for your support during this week, as the meetings of the WTO have undoubtedly had an impact on all of us who live and work (and live) inthe core Seattle area.

On Tuesday morning after waiting 40 minutes in front of the Conv. Station on Olive for route 263, demonstrations on Olive Wy prevented the bus from making it to the bus stop. At 8:25 am a Metro rep. flagged down a bus coming out of the convention station, allowing me, and about 8 other fellow Eastside bound passengers, to get to work. Thank you!

Just a thank you to let you know how much I appreciate all your efforts during this past week. I'm sure it was a very tough time for you and all your drivers but you were obviously up to the challenge.

Great job!!

I just want to take a second out of my day to thank you for all you messages so that we were kept informed about the changes in the bus routes. They were very helpful to me and I am sure to all the others who signed up for the service.

And a big hug to all the Metro bus drivers who helped this week to get all of us home safetly. We may not have gotten home on time but we did get home and what a relief.

I am very sick over what happen to our city but with organizations like Metro and your employees the situation was made a little easier. I also know that many people were up-set over the inconvenience caused by the buses being re-routed and some cancelled but like every thing else in the big picture it was NO BIG DEAL. Thanks and have a great weekend.

When so many people are currently looking at all that is negative, I wanted to let you guys know how appreciated you are.

I have been so impressed with Metro busses' drivers in general, during this very stressful, hectic and constantly changing week. All drivers on these routes (#5 and #28) have been very understanding, courteous and patient with riders, their questions and concerns.

I look forward to a normal week, which I hope will take place starting next Monday.

I have never received such wonderful service by anyone at Metro as I did on 12/1, and I wanted you to know that you should be proud that you have at least one employee like the driver of bus number 3110 (Rt. 33).

We needed to get to the north side of 28th Avenue W. on Wednesday night, and the driver of bus number 3110 stopped and said that he could deliver us to where we needed to go since he hadn't seen a #24 all evening. He followed the 33 route and ended up changing the bus number to 24 and followed the 24 route to get us home. While riding, we chatted a bit, and he said that his shift had ended an hour or so earlier (I believe). In any event, he was pleasant, personable, and very eager to help stranded riders despite the tension that the city has had throughout the week. He could have just hung out with other drivers who sat in their busses waiting for the blockades or their shifts to end (whichever came first), but he went about as much of his route as he could, helping whomever he could.

I just wanted you to be aware of this fellow's great gift of humanity.

Thanks for all you've done this week! It took a herculean effort and you've done a great job.

Thank you very much for the informative & timely 'Alerts'......I, as a METRO customer, appreciated the attentiveness from METRO & its drivers.

Finally!! Thanks for all the updates, it really helped

You all have been great! Thank you for keeping us so well informed. We are sympathetic to the extra work these demonstration interruptions have caused you. Job well done.

Not only does your free weekend bus service reflect an acknowedgement of what we passengers have experienced here this last week of idiocy, and help us recover for the season, it reflects too a way for Seattle to come back together after the out of town guests have left.

A great healing ritual- we need many more.

December 4

You have to be SOOOOO glad this week is over! I take the 101 downtown (via tunnel) and was most impressed with the schedule maintenance. I had absolutely no interruption in service. Thanks Metro for the service, and the updates -- they are very helpful!

THANK YOU to everyone at Metro for their patience and persistence, courtesy, and advisories during this past week that was so hard on all of us!

Thank you all for doing such a great job during this most unusual of circumstances. The graciousness and flexibility of your drivers and all those "behind the scenes folks" have been truly outstanding

Again, Thank you and I hope you all have a peaceful holiday season.

Thank you very much for the transit alerts during the WTO (Week of Transit Obstructions). I found the information very useful.

On behalf of the staff in my office (most of whom are regular Metro commuters), thanks to you and your colleagues for setting up and operating the Transit Alert email system during WTO.

The information was timely and helpful.

We're all glad WTO is over - - I'm sure you are, too.

Thanks again for a job well done.

December 5

I would like to thank you for this service and keeping things up to date. It is a wonderful service and much appreciated. I am a daily transit user and appreciate your service and staff greatly. Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas to all of your staff.

THANK YOU! For the timely and accurate Metro Alerts last week. And kudos to the Metro supervisors who stood in the cold and rain directing people to their buses on 4th and Jackson.

I would like to thank all of you there at Metro for the wonderful job you did of keeping us all informed through the last week. You deserve a "round of applause".

You did an amazing job of tracking a moving target all week. As a member of the internal communications team at Virginia Mason, and on behalf of all downtown VM staff who were grateful for the frequent updates, I just wanted to say thanks again. Your Transit Alerts were anchors in the storm.

I just wanted to say thank you for this helpful service! It was a life saver for me last week with the WTO in town. Keep up the good work!

Best regards.

December 6

I just wanted to say "Thank You" for all the transit alerts last week, during WTO and the protest demonstrations. I am a daily metro bus commuter from outside the Seattle area and the alerts helped me in planning my commute out of Seattle last week. Once again, Thank You!

Just a quick note to let you know how much we bus commuters appreciate OUR METRO. You guys are great. The drivers have been terrific this past week, even with all of the stress and uncertainty. You guys deserve a big hand!

I just want to thank you for this service which was a tremendous help to me last week. Without it I would not have known which way to go. Also the Metro bus drivers were the ones who were very patient and courteous and I commend them.

I just wanted to pass on a sincere thank you to all your drivers last week during the WTO. They did a great job. I saw many bus drivers going out of their way to make sure people got home, and caught their bus. I saw drivers pull over where there were no stops, at intersections, and any where it was safe to get a passenger.

All the drivers I saw, remained patient, friedly and went way beyond their job for the passengers. I never once saw an angry or rude driver, despite all the frustrations. My hat is off to them. Thanks!

Please extend my gratitude to all of the Metro personnel, both workers and supervisors, who got us through this difficult week. I normally commute from Capitol Hill to Northup Way, and the curfew/state of emergency declared by the Mayor really put a wrench into the works.

Despite the city's ham-handed efforts at crowd control, Metro responded quickly and smoothly, and the drivers were always courteous and professional, no matter what happened.

Once again, thanks for all of your hard work during this long week.

I was out of town because of the conference until December 2nd and 3rd. I can't tell you how much I appreciated hearing about what was happening through e-mail. I can't see outside from where I sit and have no radio. Just being kept up to date on what was going on out there was wonderful.

Thank you for your excellent job informing me of all the transit changes that occurred during the WTO. I really appreciate the frequent updates.

December 7

An extra kudo to the Metro supervisor who invited waiting riders to sit on a shuttle and warm up on Thursday night at 4th and Jackson.

Thank you for the up-to-the-minute Transit Alerts during WTO. I can only imagine the amount of work involved rerouting hundreds of buses at the flip of a switch. It was abundantly clear that all Metro staff pulled together during WTO - a genuine team effort. Keep up the good work!

December 8

In light of recent debates regarding different topics, please pass on the following "kudos" to Metro Bus Administration.

During last week's WTO activities, it was very, VERY helpful and beneficial to my fellow associates and I to have the WTO/GovLink/Metro Traffic Alert delivered to my pager and email. Once the message was received, I shared with my department, immediately, so folks could make other transportation arrangements.

In today's technologically advanced environment, what a great way to communicate to such great masses of people and deliver the same precise message.

In the event activities like this occur in the future, I hope this service is available.

Great job, Metro!

Your service provided the best information available anywhere! Thank you for such accurate information!

I am sure you get a ton of mail this week, but I just wanted to thank you for the great service during the total insanity this last week! I didn't miss a day of work, I got a good dose of pepper spray on Tuesday, had to walk extra distance to get to my bus (and home on the other end), but I was able to do it all with out too much extra trouble (except for the pepper spray!).

The email alerts that were sent to my home and office were EXTREMELY helpful. I hope you keep this service for future events and possible snowstorms that La Nina may bring us this winter.

I just hope that Seattle doesn't have another WTO or any other huge event like this in the future. I guess the next possible strange day will be New Years for Y2K, that could be another interesting day since nobody knows what might happen then.

Anyway, I just wanted to send a quick email complimenting Metro for your heroic efforts!! THANKS!!!!! :-)

December 9

Well, not kudos really -- but you guys did the best you could during WTO week. Of course things changed rapidly and without warning and there's nothing you could do about that. I am grateful at least that the bus tunnel remained open and in operation nearly all the time. It sure saved my hide. I live in Woodinville and taking a tunnel bus was my most reliable way of getting home going north. I think the e-mail thing is a good idea. Thanks for using it.

I just read the many, many pages of appreciative comments and literally, a tear came to my eye. I am a huge fan of public transit generally and Metro in particular. It makes me so happy to see people appreciate the incredible efforts Metro displayed last week. I tell all my friends that I've never lived in a city that tried harder (and succeeded) at making bus service thorough, efficient and pleasant. Thank you and keep up the good work (particularly in the face of the asinine I-695)!

Thank you ladies for all your help, concern and personal responses. You were a beacon of hope in an otherwise - chaotic week.

My only suggestion as to alerts on bus routes still stands rather than the North South etc. would rather have had: Bus route 263 to Bellevue via 520 will be on 2 or 3 or whatever avenue. Bus route 26 to....and points beyond via ....for me at least that would have been much clearer and pertinent.

Thank you again and the merriest of holidays to us all!

This was the very, very best thing that came out of the WTO. Your e-mail subscription was an outstanding idea. Did I ever appreciate it!! Kudos to Metro! AND, except for one grumpy driver, the drivers I had were wonderful.

Good job during the WTO.

Thank you for being there, and for putting out these alerts - you (plural) made it possible for me and three other people in my office to get home safely the entire week.

I found it [Transit Alert!] most helpful and found it quite efficient in keeping everyone updated. I suggest you continue to use it.

December 10

Let me pass along a great big THANK YOU! to all the folks at Metro, and especially the Operators of routes 252, 255, 257 and 259 during the WTO.

I know that the job isn't the easiest or most rewarding day to day, but the service was absolutely first-class during the entire WTO where my commute was concerned. The busses were there, the operators were friendly, courteous and above all professional!

Thanks Metro, this is as good as it gets!

We would like to keep our subscription to Transit Alert. We found it very helpful as we have a number of employees who ride the bus to and from work daily.

The messages sent out during the WTO were very, very helpful.

As stated before in a previous message, we thank you for the updates you gave us all last week and appreciate all your hard work.

Wanted to respond and let you know that the information was very useful [Transit Alert!]. Although a large number of our staff do not utilize bus services currently, the general state of the traffic circumstances as it relates to the buses was useful information for all.

Thank you for all your efforts it was appreciated.

December 11

I am a patrol officer with the City of Seattle, assigned to the West Precinct (Downtown). This is a personal letter thanking each and everyone of you and your families for your support during the WTO week. I know that many of you were put in positions that you aren't trained for, equipped for and realistically didn't want to do. I am saddened to hear that most of you were not even given a simple thank you for your support during this incident. For what it is worth, I am extending an offer of thanks. I know that you deserve thanks from those much higher in office than me but, I truly appreciate the sacrifices that you and your families made. I have a lot of respect for you, not only because of this incident, but also for the daily abuses that you often endure. My hat is off to you. Thank you and thank your families.
