Major Bus Service Changes Start Saturday, September 25, 2004
King County Metro Transit will initiate significant changes to its bus network, with particular emphasis in Burien, Shorewood, White Center, Highland Park, and the Ambaum-Delridge Way corridor. These changes are designed to improve our overall bus service, make our system more efficient to operate, and help provide riders with more options and better performance.

Pick Up Your New BLUE Timetable
Pick up your new BLUE timetable on your bus and at Metro information racks, work sites and libraries beginning September 16.
If you ride Sound Transit, Pierce or Community Transit, pick up their new schedules or refer to their web site and look for changes that may impact your bus ride.
Please help conserve paper by taking only the timetables you need or by using these other information options:
- Metro Online (New timetables and maps will be available by close of business September 24, 2004.)
- Metro Trip Planner Enter a day/date of September 25 or later for itineraries in Metro's service area. Regional trip plans outside of King County may not contain complete information until Sept. 25.

Downtown Seattle: 2nd & 4th Avenues and Olive Way have new Bus stop locations
If you board your bus on 2nd or 4th Avenues between Lenora and S. Jackson Streets or on Olive Way, your bus may be stopping at a new location. Please use the map [191 kb] and check to see if your bus stop has changed.
Permanent bus stop closures
Bus stops that have been located on:
- 2nd Ave. at Virginia St,
- 2nd Ave at Yesler Way,
- 4th Ave at Jefferson St,
- 4th Ave at Pine St, and
- Olive Way between 8th & 9th Aves
will be permanently closed.
Second Ave bus stop changes also include several route changes; please read further and check the map for more information. All bus routes that formerly used the stop on 4th Ave. at Jefferson St. will now stop just south of James St. Most bus routes that served the stop on 4th Ave. at Pine St. by Westlake Center will now stop just north of Pike St. Most bus routes that have served the stop on Olive Way at 8th Ave. will now use the stop on Olive Way just west of 6th Ave. by the Medical Dental Bldg. There are exceptions; please check the bus stop sign and your timetable for complete boarding location information
Many of the changes at downtown Seattle bus stops are in preparation for the closure of the bus tunnel in September 2005. The tunnel is expected to be closed for approximately two years, so it can be upgraded and retrofitted for joint use by buses and light rail.
