Changes in bus service for the Ambaum-Delridge corridor begin Saturday, September 25, 2004
Changes are coming for riders along the Ambaum-Delridge corridor through Southwest Seattle to downtown Seattle. King County Metro Transit is revising its network of bus routes for Delridge, White Center, Burien, and neighboring areas in order to speed service to and from downtown Seattle.
The service revisions, approved by the King County Executive and County Council on May 17, 2004, take effect on Saturday, September 25, 2004. For details, please see the Table of Contents below. Introduction
Metro Transit worked with residents, bus riders, and a sounding board made up of area riders to develop these service changes. Since Metro's public open houses in January/February, numerous changes have been made to the original proposals in response to public comments.
New Ambaum-Delridge Route 120
Starting September 25th, new Route 120 will serve the Ambaum-Delridge corridor with a single bus route offering 15-minute or better weekday service till 7 p.m., Metro's newest low-floor air-conditioned articulated buses, longer hours of operation till 2:15 a.m., and improved bus stop facilities.
New Route 125: Improved service to South Seattle Community College
Ride Metro's new Route 125 for improved service to South Seattle Community College, 16th Avenue SW, and Shorewood, running more often during peak hours and on Sunday and providing a new direct connection to Seattle Central Community College.

Special Rider Alert brochure & timetables available Sept. 16
Look for a special Rider Alert brochure and new blue timetables on your bus and at Metro information racks, work sites and libraries beginning Sept. 16. The special Rider Alert will also be available on Metro Online.
Timetables will be available on Metro Online by close of business Sept. 24. Watch for Rider Alert signs at your bus stop. You can also access new route and timetable information online at Metro's Trip Planner the week of Sept. 13.

Metro's Accessible Bus and Van Services
King County Metro Transit is committed to providing county residents and visitors with valued transportation services, and these extend to customers with special needs due to age or disabilities.
Metro provides Access Transportation paratransit service for qualified customers, and 100 percent of Metro buses are accessible. We offer accessible online trip planning for bus routes and a variety of accessible means to interact and use our services.

Burien Highline Senior Shuttle
This service is provided in the Burien-Highline area for those age 55 or older or who are eligible for Metro's Access services. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The boundaries of the shuttle include the city of Burien and the unincorporated area up to the Seattle city limits. The eastern boundary is Hwy 99 to S 128th Street. For more information call 206-448-5740 or 800-282-5815. Regional Reduced Fare Permit
Sometimes called a senior or disabled bus pass, this permit costs $3.00 and entitles riders to discount fares on Metro Transit and other transportation systems in the region, including the Washington State Ferries.
Anyone who is age 65 or older qualifies for the permit. There are many other qualifications for those with disabilities or certain medical or physical conditions. It is best to contact Metro Transit directly to see if you qualify, and to learn what steps to take to receive your permit.
If you require personal assistance when riding, a Personal Care Attendant Regional Reduced Fare Permit is also available, allowing your personal care attendant to ride free.

Bus facility changes
King County Metro transit is making significant changes and improvements in facilities in the Delridge-Ambaum area and in Burien.
Bus stops: Metro has recently removed more than 20 stops along the affected routes to improve the speed of bus service. Improvements have begun at many bus stops with the installation of new shelters, benches, more trash cans, better lighting, safer crossings, and improved schedule information. These improvements will continue into 2005.
Adopt-A-Stop: Along with improving bus stops, Metro Transit is also seeking volunteers to help maintain the stops. In return for disposing of trash and picking up litter, volunteers receive ten round-trip bus tickets per month and free litter bags for the bus stop. New Burien Transit Center: King County Metro Transit and the City of Burien are working together to design and build a new off-street Burien Transit Center. The new facility would be located near the existing one, and the park-and-ride lot would remain next door. Metro Transit has convened a community advisory group to help review project plans and designs. A public open house to review project designs will be held in fall 2004.
