Share your ideas for future transit service

King County Metro Transit and Sound Transit face increased demand for public transportation with limited resources. Making the best possible use of service hours already on the street, and the buses and transit facilities now in place, is an important reason to consider potential changes. We also want to plan ahead for a time when more resources might be available for transit improvements.
In order to gather comments and ideas from riders on how transit service in this area can be improved, Metro and Sound Transit are distributing this newsletter and comment sheet to riders on our transit mailing list, and to those who attend a public workshop or request a comment sheet. A separate mailing with information about the public workshops is being sent to every household in the affected area.

…about transit service for Bellevue, Bothell, Duvall, Finn Hill, Juanita, Kingsgate, Kirkland, Redmond, and Woodinville
King County Metro Transit and Sound Transit want your ideas on how bus service could be improved in these areas on the Eastside. We will use your suggestions to develop recommendations for changes to bus service and facilities that could be made in the future, when financial resources become available.
We want to know what you think about:
- Bus service frequency, routing, and hours of operation on routes that serve the Auburn and Kent stations
- Ways to make service more efficient
- Coordination between Metro Transit routes and Sound Transit routes at the Redmond and Overlake transit centers
- Transit facilities such as benches, shelters, and bus stops
Metro and Sound Transit planning together
So that our routes work well for our riders, Metro and Sound Transit work together on route planning. Sometimes, the timing of our decision-making is different. For example, this year, Sound Transit is conducting a public outreach in early October for the 2006 Service Implementation Plan.
Meanwhile, Metro and Sound Transit are conducting a public process on the overall Eastside transit route network in Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, and the surrounding areas. If proposals emerge from this collaborative planning process for further public review, Metro would not make changes until September 2006 at the earliest.
If changes are proposed to Sound Transit routes, Sound Transit will amend the 2006 Service Implementation Plan as necessary.
