King County Metro Transit wants to hear from you about the proposed discontinuation of Route 173. Metro Transit is proposing to discontinue this route in September 2006 as part of a set of proposed changes to bus service in South King County. The changes would include starting new service, revising existing routes, and shifting under-used service to areas that need more service.
Route 173 currently provides two northbound morning trips and two southbound afternoon trips during weekday peak hours. Ridership on Route 173 has ranged between 40 and 80 boardings per day.
Proposed alternative service on Route 154
If Route 173 is discountinued as proposed in September 2006, its resources would be used to expand service on Route 154. The proposed revision to Route 154 would provide coordinated connections between Sounder commuter rail trains at Tukwila Station and the Boeing Industrial and Federal Center South employment areas currently served by Route 173.
