Bellevue, Beaux Arts, Factoria, Eastgate, Overlake, Redmond service
Map 3 shows the proposed service changes connecting Overlake, Eastgate, Factoria, Bellevue, Medina, and the University District. The proposal would affect routes 220, 221 (new), 222, and 921. See the potential service changes Route frequency and span chart.
Why changes?
- Provide more direct connections at Overlake Transit Center.
- Respond to requests for direct service between Redmond and Bellevue Community College via Overlake.
- Operate more direct routing between Woodridge and Eastgate Park-and-Ride.
- Provide a direct connection between Redmond and Eastgate via Bellevue Community College.
Potential changes
- Route 222 would be split into two routes at Eastgate Park-and-Ride. The western part of Route 222 would operate between downtown Bellevue and Eastgate Park-and-Ride via Beaux Arts and Factoria.
- New Route 221 would would connect Eastgate and Education Hill in Redmond via Bellevue Community College, 148th Avenue NE, NE 40th Street, 156th Avenue NE, NE 51st Street, 148th Avenue NE, Old Redmond Road, and the Redmond Transit Center.
- Route 220 would be discontinued. No service would operate along 140th Avenue NE between NE 20th Street and Old Redmond Road. - Route 921 would be revised to serve Kamber Road and 139th Avenue SE instead of SE 36th Street.
Advantages
- New Route 221 would provide a direct connection between Redmond and Bellevue Community College, with all-day, seven-day-a-week service, and would provide a more direct connection with routes serving the Overlake Transit Center.
- Education Hill would have more frequent service and direct connections to Overlake and Bellevue Community College via new Route 221.
- Route 921 would provide a more direct connection between Woodridge and Eastgate.
Disadvantages
- Some existing Route 222 riders traveling between Factoria and Overlake would have to transfer at Eastgate Park-and-Ride to and from routes 221 and 245.
- Education Hill riders traveling to and from Rose Hill or Kirkland would have to transfer to and from new Route 248 at the Redmond Transit Center.
- Old Redmond Road riders traveling to or from Houghton and Kirkland during off-peak hours would have to transfer. (See information and Map 1 and Map 3.)
